Joan Freese is an Emmy Award winning educational technologist at Twin Cities PBS,
in St. Paul, Minnesota, focusing on projects for K-8 students, parents, and educators.
She is digital producer of SciGirls, a transmedia enterprise that encourages tween girls
in STEM, and principle investigator of SciGIrls Code, a national connected learning
project that introduces middle school girls to computer science. She also directs TPT’s
Ready to Learn program. This 5-year transmedia effort, funded by the U. S.
Department of Education, is designed to improve the school readiness and
achievement of children ages 5 to 8 in science and literacy.
