Dr. Josie Ahlquist is a digital leadership educator, discovering the intersection of social communication technologies and leadership development in Higher Education. She believes in challenging how higher education thinks about social media for community building, leadership development, and student services. In addition she serves as adjunct faculty and researcher at Florida State University. She is an emerging scholar on social media in education, with research that is award winning and grant funded. For the third year in a row she has been named to the “Top 50 Must Read Higher Education Technology Blogs” by Ed Tech Magazine, blogging at www.josieahlquist.com, connecting scholarly research to best practices for students and educational leaders.

She is a co-author in the Handbook of Student Affairs Administration textbook, writing the chapter on Computer-Mediated Communication and Social Media and is published in The Journal of Leadership Studies, exploring Digital Leadership Education using Social Media and the Social Change Model. Finally, she is a co-editor and author on a future New Directions in Student Services, "Engaging the Digital Generation" anticipated for release fall 2016, as well as co-editor and author for a New Directions in Student Leadership manuscript called “Going Digital in Student Leadership” scheduled for release in Spring 2017.

As an international leadership speaker represented by Bass/Schuler Entertainment Agency, Josie has trained thousands of student leaders and higher education professionals. Her presentations balance between education and entertainment, using high energy and interaction along with learning outcomes and attendee reflection. From New York University-Abu Dhabi to Texas A&M Josie is remixing leadership in the digital age.
